Software Installation & Repair
Computer crashing after an update? need Microsoft Office installed properly? We handle all software headaches, from fresh Windows installations to complex driver fixes.
Software Makes The Hardware Work
You can have the most expensive customized PC in the world, but if the software is corrupt, it's just a heavy paperweight. Software issues are incredibly common and can range from a simple "DLL Missing" error to a catastrophic Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) loop that prevents you from accessing your files.
At Leeds Computer & Laptop Repairs, we treat software installation as an art form. We don't just click "Next, Next, Finish." We ensure the underlying OS is healthy, we strip out the advertising "bloatware" that slows you down, and we configure the privacy settings to protect your data.
Whether you need a fresh start with a clean Windows installation, help activating Microsoft Office, or a complex Adobe Creative Cloud deployment, our technicians get it right the first time.
Complete Software Solutions
We fix the code so you can get back to work.
Windows Install
We perform "Clean Installs" of Windows 10 or 11. This wipes away years of accumulated junk files, viruses, and registry errors, making your computer run as fast as the day you bought it.
Office Setup
Struggling with Office 365 activation errors? We install and configure Word, Excel, and Outlook correctly, ensuring your subscription is active and your emails are syncing.
Creative Suite
Installing Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, or AutoCAD can be tricky due to their massive size and license managers. We handle the download, installation, and GPU acceleration setup.
Antivirus Setup
Norton? McAfee? Windows Defender? We advise on the best protection for your needs and install it properly, ensuring it doesn't slow down your system while keeping you safe.
Drivers & Bios
Hardware acting weird? It's often a driver conflict. We manually track down the exact drivers for your graphics card, printer, and chipset, avoiding generic "auto-updaters" that cause issues.
Bloatware Removal
New computers come pre-loaded with "trial" software you don't need. We surgically remove these trial apps, pop-ups, and advertisements to free up space and memory.
Why "Clean Installs" Are Magic
Over time, every computer accumulates "digital dust"—leftover files from uninstalled programs, temporary internet files, and broken registry links. This naturally slows the machine down.
The Refresh vs The Reset
Windows has a built-in "Reset" feature, but it often keeps the corruption issues alive. We perform a Manual Formatting of the drive. This erases everything (after backing up your data, of course!) and lays down a pristine, fresh layer of Windows. The performance difference is night and day.
Windows 11 Compatibility
Microsoft has strict requirements for Windows 11 (TPM 2.0). If you have an older but perfectly good PC, we can often bypass these arbitrary restrictions safely, allowing you to run the latest trusted OS on your existing hardware, saving you the cost of a new laptop.
A Note on Piracy
We strictly use Genuine Software. We cannot and will not install "cracked" or pirated software. Pirated software is the #1 source of malware infections. We can help you purchase legitimate licenses at the best prices.
Software FAQ
Common questions about installations.
Will I lose my data during a reinstall?
Not with our service. We perform a full data backup (Documents, Photos, Desktop) before touching the operating system. We then restore your data to the fresh installation.
How long does a Windows install take?
Typically 2-3 hours. This involves the installation itself, followed by roughly 90 minutes of downloading updates, drivers, and reinstalling your essential apps.
My computer is failing to update. Can you fix it?
Yes. "Windows Update Failed" loops are very common. We verify the "SoftwareDistribution" folder, reset the update services, and manually force the updates to apply.
Do I need an antivirus if I have Windows 11?
Windows Defender (built-in) is now excellent and sufficient for most home users. We often recommend sticking with it rather than paying for bloatware like McAfee, unless you have specific high-risk business needs.
