Solving MacBook Keyboard Issues

Nothing is more frustrating than a keyboard that doesn't cooperate. If you are typing a report or a dissertation and the 'E' key works only half the time, or the spacebar is stuck, you need a fix fast. Apple keyboards are riveted into the metal chassis, making them difficult to replace, but our technicians are experts at this precision work.

The "Butterfly" Keyboard Era

Between 2016 and 2019, Apple used a "Butterfly" mechanism which was prone to failure. Dust could get under a key and stop it from working, or make it double-type (e.g., "happpy"). We can replace individual keycaps if the mechanism is intact, or replace the entire top case assembly if needed.

Liquid Spills on Keyboards

Keyboards often act as a shield for the logic board during a spill. Sugary drinks (Coke, Juice, Coffee) will make keys "sticky" once they dry. You press the key, and it stays down. This cannot be fixed by cleaning alone because the sugar is inside the mechanism. A full keyboard replacement is the only permanent solution.

Our Replacement Technique

Unlike some shops that just pry the old keyboard out, we remove all internal components—Logic Board, Battery, Speakers, Fans—to access the keyboard rivets. We replace the keyboard with a brand new unit and use high-strength screws to secure it, ensuring it feels solid and clicky, just like new.

Backlight Issues

Sometimes the keys work, but they don't light up. This is usually a backlight layer failure or a liquid damaged connector. We can replace the backlight sheet separately from the keyboard to save costs.
