Dim Screen / Backlight Repair
Can you barely see the image? Is your screen black but the laptop is on? This is a classic backlight failure.
The "Flashlight Test"
If your screen looks black, shine a torch closely at it. If you can see a faint ghost image, your LCD is working, but the backlight circuit is dead.
This can be caused by the screen itself, the cable, or a blown microfiber fuse on the motherboard. Unlike many shops that just quote for a new screen, we check the motherboard fuse first, which can be a much cheaper fix.
What We Fix
Blown Backlight Fuse
Common on Macs and Dells. A tiny component on the board protects the power circuit. We replace it.
LED Strip Failure
The LEDs inside the screen can burn out. In this case, we replace the whole screen panel.
Lid Sensor
Sometimes the laptop "thinks" the lid is closed and turns off the screen. We fix the magnetic sensor.
