Locked Out of Windows?
It happens. You changed your password and forgot it, or your child set one by accident. Now you can't access your photos or work. Don't worry - we can slice right through the lock screen and get you back in within minutes.
We Don't Guess. We Remove.
Many people think they have to factory reset their computer if they lose the password. This is false. A password is just a small file in the Windows `System32` folder.
Our Method: We boot your computer from a specialized Linux tool that bypasses the Windows lock screen entirely. We then locate the `SAM` (Security Account Manager) file and simply clear the password data for your username.
When you restart the computer, you just click your name, hit Enter, and you are in. Your files, browser history, and settings are exactly where you left them.
Types of Locks We Fix
1. Local User Accounts
Standard accounts created on the machine itself (not linked to email). We can remove these passwords instantly, usually while you wait.
2. Microsoft Accounts (Outlook/Live)
If you sign in with an email, the password is stored on Microsoft's servers, so we can't "delete" it locally. However, we CAN convert your account to a Local Account, which bypasses the online check and lets you in.
3. BitLocker Encryption
Warning: If your drive is encrypted with BitLocker, removing the password may lock the data forever. We always check for encryption status before proceeding. If BitLocker is on, we need your recovery key.
Security Policy
To prevent theft and fraud, we have strict rules for this service.
- Proof of Ownership: You must provide ID that matches the name likely to be on the PC, or proof of purchase.
- No Hacking: We will not unlock a computer that obviously belongs to a school, business, or third party without written authorization on company letterhead.
BIOS Passwords?
Locked before Windows even starts?
- BIOS Lock: Harder to remove.
- CMOS Reset: Works on desktops.
- Laptops: Usually require a master password generator or chip reprogramming. Check with us first.
Unlock FAQs
Access questions.
Can you recover the old password?
No. We cannot "read" or reveal what the old password was (it's encrypted). We can only delete it so it becomes blank.
Will I lose my Chrome passwords?
Sometimes. Windows encrypts saved browser passwords using your login password. Breaking the login can sometimes scramble saved web passwords. You should know your Google/Facebook passwords separately.
Is it instant?
If you bring the laptop to our shop, we can often do it in 15-20 minutes while you wait. Please call ahead to confirm a technician is available.
